    • member of several boards, commissions and committees; currently president of the IJS/SVIZ union, president of faculty and institute members and general vice-president of the Educational and science trade union of Slovenia SVIZ with 39.000 members overall, president of The society of cognitive sciences, Head of the Intelligent Systems Department E9, previously deputy head of the Intelligent systems department E8, a member of the Board of Governors of the Jozef Stefan Institute, member and deputy coordinator of Computer and Informatics Research Board in Slovenia, member of the National Prog. Council for Informatics in Schools, member of the Strategic council for information society headed by Slovenian president Rop, member of AAAI and IEEEsocieties, ACM representative for Slovenia at 1999 Bucarest ACM meeting for Eastern and Central Europe.
    • member of several scientific organisations; secretary of the ACM Slovenia (newold), ex and now secretary of Slovenian association for technical and natural sciences  and Engineering Academy of Slovenia (Satena, IAS), old and new , past-president of The society of cognitive sciences, and past-president of the Slovenian association of artificial intelligence (SLAIS), and a member of the Executive Board of the Informatika society
    • Among others, he was a co-founder of the Engineering academy of Slovenia and the Society of natural and technical sciences in Slovenia (IAS and SATENA), a co-founder and the first vice president of the Slovenian association of artificial intelligence (SLAIS), a co-founder and the first president of The society of cognitive sciences, vice-president of the Yugoslavian association for AI (YUGAI), and a delegate in ECCAI, the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence.

  • member of several PC’s of conferences and workshops; approx. 3-5 per year; organised several WS and conferences.
  • (co)authored or translated a couple of books in Slovenian and Croatian language, for example books Good programming styles, The joy of computers, Computer dictionaries and lexicons; together published in several 10.000 copies, edited a couple of English books such as Mind Versus Computer

Development and applications

  • various application projects for users from industry and infrastructure, especially in steel-mill factories
  • several innovation projects related to intelligent systems, e.g., Expert systems – Knowledge-based systems, Expert systems in industry, recently an Integrated information system for employment optimisation in Slovenia (with Employment Service) with an intelligent-agent top-level interface EMA, a Copernicus project to extend the system towards EU (see new and old interesting agents on the Internet as one of my major research areas, and artificial life), the Govorec system for people with vision problems donated to 5.000 users;
  • designed and implemented several systems mainly in Pascal, together several 10.000 lines of program code.

Teaching activity

  • various computer-science courses (together over 10) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; Faculty of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, and Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana
  • supervisor of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students at University of Ljubljana and University of Maribor
  • one course at the First high school Bezigrad, one postgraduate course at the Vojvodina University, in 2002 3 months visiting professorship at University of applied sciences, Zweibruecken, Germany.
