Trends, Research Directions and State-of-the-Art of Intelligent Cognitive Assistants (ICAs)
Tine Kolenik presented current research trends in the field of Intelligent Cognitive Assistants (ICAs) by delving into the interdisciplinary nature of cooperation between fields such as cognitive science, cognitive psychology, artificial intelligence, system architectures, data science and human-computer interfaces in pursuit to create and build artificial systems (conversational, virtual and robotic) that possess and help advance knowledge on human-level cognition. He presented how contemporary cognitive neuroscience research, e.g. from The Human Brain Project, affects building ICAs, and how the latest research on cognitive architectures helps progress work on artificial systems’ understanding and meaning creation. He concluded with tips for future research directions at IJS.
