Opportunities for Researchers and Students at the Department of Intelligent Systems
The Department of Intelligent Systems at the Jožef Stefan Institute is looking for motivated individuals to collaborate on cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence. https://dis.ijs.si/ We are offering opportunities for young researchers and students:
1. Young Researcher (ARIS) – Quantum Generative Artificial Intelligence
Research areas:
- Quantum generative AI,
- Cognitive AI,
- General AI,
- Superintelligence,

Eligibility criteria:
- A second-cycle (Master’s level) degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum grade point average of 8.0 (on a 10-point scale).
- Age limit: up to 28 years.

2. Researcher on an International Project (MSCA COFUND 2024 – SQUASH) – Quantum Artificial Intelligence
The SQUASH project will enable research in quantum computing and information. https://squash.ijs.si/matjaz–gams/
The consortium includes 43 partners, including five Slovenian companies. More information: https://squash.ijs.si/
Eligibility criteria:
- Completed PhD degree (candidates who have defended their dissertation but have not yet officially obtained the title are also eligible).
- Mobility rule: Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Slovenia for more than 12 months in the last three years before the application deadline.
- Applicants must propose their own research project, which is connected to at least one of the four key research areas of the program.
3. Student Work in Artificial Intelligence
We offer student jobs through the student work system, with opportunities to participate in European and international research projects.
Eligibility criteria:
• Enrollment in computer science, informatics, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or other technical disciplines with programming knowledge.
