Hi there,
The more I listen this collection
of songs, the more I find it as a love story. I don't know if you guys
agree, but to me, the whole thing is about true and passionate love.
And it happened from city to city, from hotel to hotel ("So we in sleep
in bed We never make... "). Sometimes in a rush. I'd say more, a
forbidden love ("Oh it's the last time, it's the last time Each way I
turn I know I'll always try To break the circle")
And it ended
as these stories use to end ("I wish I'd known How much you loved
me[...] I see you smile you smile like a little child And hold you
crying when it all goes wild")
I think the apparent "disorder"
in some of the songs in just to don't make it so evident ("I thought I
was fine Everything seemed perfect Until I had you on my mind")
But obviusly, it's over ("We could feel this way forever")...
You have be really in love, the one that hurts, to write such a set of songs... Well... just my thoughts...
PS.-
I'd bet $50 that this ("Look at us, were beautiful All the people push
and pull But let's just go out and ride Talk about the things we try")
was written after looking at the mirror, both together. One of these
huge mirrors you can find in some hotel rooms.

If you'd listen to a Moby interview and he talks
about 'Hotel', you'd know that this isn't just about going from
hotelroom to hotelroom but also about finding and loosing love...
And you lost your 50 
Cause 'Beautifull' is a sarcastic song about two people who sing it to each other while having dinner...
Listen to interviews... Then you know stuff!!

Yes, Hotel is a love story. When I went to see Moby at Barnes &
Noble bookstore recently, he said that a lot of the songs were based on
the messy breakup between he and Kelly.
Hotel is a BEAUTIFUL album, written straight from the heart.

yep because at a hotel you stay for a while and pretend its home, even though you know you're not going to be there forever.
And the relationship, its like loving eachother but knowing in your heart it isnt going to last.

Can't agree more. I wouldn't say that the lyrics are the
"top-notch" (i.e. richness when expressing emotions), but I
must say that, maybe because of its simplicity, maybe
because of the "intimacy" feelings as the companion
to the music: WOW, it really hits me! And, yep!, "where you end" it's one of my preferred ones...
Anyhow, I've never been to a live concert of Moby, (to be
clear, I like good music, and he has great pieces of
job, but I don't qualify for a "fan" (yet)  Does he transmit the "intimacy" feeling in live concerts? IMHO, a
song like the ones from hotel (except couple of them) looks
more for "quiet forums" (remember the lasts from Björk...)

Listening to ´hotel´ makes mi feel like... a kind of loved.
although the songs are not written for me.
But there must be someone in the world for everyone
of us, who will love / loves us that much....
I love listining "hotel" when i am sad...
(in last weeks, it is the case very often..)

That is so true.
I personally have had a
number of relationships in the past that I knew were only meant to be
for a few fleeting moments (ie hours, days, weeks) - they are meant to
be enjoyed for what they are and nothing more, even if you fall in love
a little . . .
. . . there is a sweet sadness to them all and
you never forget them, because they were special at the time and
brought something exciting or wonderful to your life, no matter how
short those relationships turned out to be.

actually, "Beautiful" was the first single release
from "Hotel" here in the States. I don't believe it charted all that
highly though.... what a shame...  , but the video is very cute
To the best of my knowledge, the "Beautiful" video did make the "VH 1"
Top 20 countdown however (but I think only in the 15-20 # range )

That block of 3 songs that connect together so well are, "Love Should",
"Slipping Away", & "Forever"...with the pinnacle highlight of
course being "Slipping Away". I've been finding myself singing along to
that in particular & really feeling it.... the lyrics & emotion
of that song have such special significance. I suppose it reminds me of
the loss of my late father nearly 2 years ago, & other relatives in
my family recently... "Slipping Away" seems to clarify the need to not
take people for granted......just very inspiring.....it would probably
make my Top 10 list of all time favorite Moby songs (as of this date)

It's like a large house party in an affluent upper-class large suburban
home filled with human-sized & human-acting stuffed animals of all
varieties. Meanwhile, Moby is singing "Beautiful" dressed in a black
suit w/ his guitar (sort of "a la Buddy Holly" style??) on a circa
early 1960's era television set located in the home's living room
(while the party is going on).......

anyway
Hotel I think is the best album to date, so close to the heart and it
