CHILDREN’S PHYSICK
ESTATE TOURS
What was life like a hundred years ago? Kids can find out on a guided tour of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, geared especially for the 5 to 10 year old crowd. Find out how kids (and adults) lived without electricity and many of the everyday things we’d be lost without today. Tours last about 30 minutes. Kids under three are free. Sorry, we can’t accommodate strollers.
Board MAC’s jolly
red trolley for a guided tour of Cape May’s Historic District geared specially
for 5 to 10 year olds. From gingerbread you can’t eat to witches’ caps on
houses, kids will be fascinated by "show and
tell" along the way. Trolley tours last about 30 minutes. Of course, kids of all
ages are welcome and under threes ride for free!
Wheelchair
accessible trolley tours are offered, subject to availability.
How high is up? You
can find out climbing the 199 steps to the top of the Lighthouse.
You can see for miles around and learn what the life of a keeper was like too.
The Lighthouse was built in 1859 and is one of the oldest continuously operating
lighthouses in the country. One kid climbs free with each paying adult.
For those who
choose not to climb, the Oil House contains a fully-accessible visitors'
orientation center and a Museum Shop stocked with maritime accessories and
memorabilia.

An adventure for the whole family! Discover the fun of exploring Cape May and uncovering its architectural elements from a kid’s eye view. The packet includes a clue sheet and map that will take you on a self-guided discovery tour, set to your own pace. (The answer sheet is included too!) Co-sponsored by Preservation new Jersey. What does a butterfly like to eat? How about a crab? How are shells made? Take a Harbor Safari with a marine biologist from the Nature Center of Cape May as your guide and find out. See Cape May's beach and marsh habitats and learn about the wonder and beauty of the plants and animals found there.
How did that lobster get into your kitchen? Find the answer to this fishy question and many more on a guided tour of the Lobster House Dock and fish packing plant. I bet you never knew that Cape May is one of the busiest fishing ports in the United States. You just may get a chance to see one of the big boats unloading its catch!
From pirates to explorers, Cape May's first visitors came by sea. You can see the sights the way they did on the Around Cape Island boat cruise. Board the Cape May Whale Watcher for a fun-filled ride where you can learn about the history and architecture, the birds and environment, and maybe see a dolphin or two..
