I lay down on the grass while it rained. I thought to my self, "Why don't I have a family? All other normal do!" You see, I was a Bird Dog. The most rarest species of animal on Earth. I had wings and arms and legs and claws like a bird. I was all brown and had a body like a half grown dog. I had never seen my family befor. I knew I had one, because before I opened my eyes I had heard voices, and felt my mother licking me. I shook my head to get rid of the thought. I put my wings down and rested them on the grass. "Tomorrow, I'll find my parents." I said to myself.
The next moring, I woke up at the crack of dawn. I yawned. "Now Sam, if you were your parents, where would you be?" I said to myself. I flew up into the air looked around. I saw moving in the grass so I swooped down and waited at the edge of the grass. I felt nervous as the thing came closer to the clearing. It was probably as tall as I was, since the grass was taller than me.
I heard rustling, then a voice. When the thing came out of the grass, I saw it was a human girl! I backed off. "What's your name?" she said. I shook my head. "Could you help me? I need help finding my way home." I nodded. "Can I get on your back?" I stepped sideways so my wing was closets to her. She got onto my back and said, "Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! I'm May, you are?" I made my half bark and half tweet sound, then, "Sam. Where is your house any way?" May didn't seem at all shocked. "All the way over there, no that way. Well, maybe that way?" I flew up higher and higher. "Is it over there?" I asked her. She nodded. It was a large barn, in Concord Mass. "I can't fly this high because there is fewer atmosphere up here, so, I'll fly lower to the ground." All night I flew in the direction of Concord. May was asleep on my back. Then, I decided to take a brake and got to sleep myself.
The place I was on had a lake and a big open feild. I woke up what seemed like minutes later, and before we even had time to look at the deserted feild, we took off again and I new we were getting close. May woke up as I was flying.
"Were you flying all night?" I shook my head. "I stopped somewhere in Waltham." "Just to let you know, we could probably walk from here." I got down on my feet and walked. It wasn't like we were in a hurry. I saw horses going by and whispering about me.
"My farm!" May yelled Somebody came out of the door with a cup of coffee in her hand. "MAY!" the woman yelled and dropped her coffee all over her foot. "I guess I'm gonna leeve." I said by the time everybody was out of the house and hugging her. "But Sam did, mom." May said. She then pointed to me. "Aren't they mistical creatures?" May's mother whispered to May's father. "Can we keep him?" May's parents looked at eachother. "Fine. You just have to take care of him."
Maybe I didn't find my mother and father, but, I found a family. And to this very day, I've been a art of it.
