Installation Instructions

Installing the lock:

  1. Remove existing lock assembly, cables (or rods), and plastic cable cover from cap door.
*Note- may need to cut plastic cable cover on some models.
  2. Remove locking dog from back of new lock and slide T-handle out of window bushing.
  3. Place rubber bushing onto threads of window bushing.
  4. Remove two-faced tape backing from back of lock frame.
  5. While holding the window bushing centered in the door lock hole, slide the lock frame (label side up), over the window bushing.
*Note- make sure the lock frame is level before allowing the tape to touch the cap door.
  6. Install the nut on the window bushing and tighten with supplied wrench.
  7. Insert lock disk cable clamps into the back of the lock disk.
*Note- notch in the disk to face to your right, spring on top.
  8. Insert T-handle through window bushing. Place lock disk over the end of the T-handle and secure with the snap ring.
  9. With the key slot in the vertical position, install the lock dog aiming straight down.

Installing the cables:

  1. Attach 6-foot cable to the passenger side rotary latch using existing or supplied cable clamps.
  2. Thread other end of cable through the bottom lock disk cable
clamp. Tighten clamp leaving cable droop slightly. Cut excess cable off ˝ inch past clamp to allow for adjustment.
  3. Attach remainder of cable to the driver's side rotary latch.  Thread other end of cable through the top lock disk cable clamp. Adjust cable to match passenger side. Cut the end of the cable off leaving 8 inches of extra cable to form a loop for emergency exit.

Electrical:

  1. Locate the actuator and place the eye of the actuator over the top post of the slide assembly. Mount the actuator using the supplied screws.
*Note - make sure the cable behind moves freely.
  2. Plug cap wire harness into the actuator plug. Clean drivers side of the caps rear window with alcohol before mounting the foam tube. Mount the foam tube behind the shaded area of the glass. Make sure the tube does not interfere with the window gasket.
  3. Fasten the wire harness to the rear door frame using the 1-hole clamps and existing or supplied screws.
*Note-make sure the loop of wire between the glass and the door frame is large enough so as not to pull the wire when the door is fully opened.
  4. Begin installing the truck wire harness (the longer of the two) by removing the driver's side taillight. Thread the non-plug end of the wire from the inside of the truck box down behind the taillight to the frame and follow the truck existing wire harness to the front of the truck. Fasten wire harness with supplied wire ties. Run wire through an existing rubber grommet in the firewall to enter the truck cab.
  5. Locate the vehicle lock and unlock wires by using the supplied vehicle wiring chart (above) and verify with a test light. Attach the truck wire harness to the lock and unlock wire with supplied taps. If the cap lock operates opposite the vehicle locks reverse the rubber connectors between the truck harness and the cap harness.
