 As
Senator Nelson and
other planetary heroes
have shown, one person can make a world of difference for our environment.
What can you do this Earth Day? Here are some possibilities:
- Learn about the Arctic
Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. It's a wild and wonderful place at risk
from oil development.
- Get some ideas from
other kids who have created Earth Day programs, from recycling to
creating wildlife habitats.
- Find ways to reduce your energy use, by leaving the car behind and
walking or riding a bike to the library, store, or park (when such trips
can be made safely). Encourage your parents to purchase energy smart
vehicles and appliances to further reduce your family's use of fossil
fuels.
