Damageplan's Dimebag
Darrell Killed
A fatal shooting
occurred at a Damageplan concert on Wednesday
night in Columbus, Ohio. Dimebag Darrell was one
of the

Sgt. Mull of the Columbus Police Department
was interviewed regarding the shocking shootout at a
nightclub, Alrose Villa, in Columbus, OH, where Damageplan
were performing, along with the bands Volume Dealer, Position
6 and 12 Gauge. Eyewitnesses have reported to NBC, Associated
Press etc. that legendary guitarist Dimebag Darrell was shot
multiple times on stage and killed. However, Sgt. Mull would
not confirm that it was indeed Dimebag Darrell that was shot
until the next of kin of the five fatally wounded persons that
evening were notified.
Sgt. Mull reportedly said the
Columbus Police Department did believe that the band members
were specifically targeted. The 200+ patrons at Alrose Villa
were detained for questioning. The city supplied busses to
accommodate the fans until they could be questioned and
released.
Sgt. Mull spoke of the scene as chaotic.
When police officers arrived at the venue, the smell of
gunpowder was still in the air. Their first thoughts were that
the gunman had been shooting into the crowd. However,
eyewitnesses reported a psychoitic looking male jumping
onstage and shooting at the band at close range. One witness
supposedly said that he watched the gunman shoot Dimebag
Darrell about five times after screaming at him. Other reports
also confirmed that another band member was shot, although
unconfirmed by the authorities at this time.
The
gunman was subdued and shot by a police officer guarding the
stage. A total of five persons, including the gunman, are
confirmed dead, and two others have been reported as seriously
injured.
