Driving While Shaving
I’ve seen people eating while they drive and talking on the cell phone. Sometimes talking on the cell phone and eating.
One of the strangest I observed was someone who was trying to get an
even suntan. They had their sunroof open and were looking up shifting
their face from one side to another to get an even tan…all while they
were driving.
Last 4th of July at the end of our community’s parade there was
the woman who was driving slowly through the crowd of people with her
cell phone cradled under her neck while she was painting her
fingernails.
Whatever happened to driving while you are driving!?!
This morning was a new one. A guy shaving with an electric shaver while
he was driving. It was a 55 to 60 mph (88 kph – 96 kph) zone. This was
rush hour in a major city in an area where you should be paying attention to your driving.
I had my new Casio EX-S100 digital camera
with me so I thought I would snap a pic of this guy and post it up here
on the Blog. But I didn’t want to be part of the problem. I wasn’t
about to wreck my car trying to take a picture of this guy. So I waited
for a stop light. Finally, we got to a stop light where I could aim my
digital camera at my rearview mirror and get a shot of this guy. I
forgot that I had left the camera on AVI movie mode instead of still
shot mode, I got a video. So, click on the links below and you can see
the guy shaving. Now…remember…the video shows him shaving while we are
stopped. He was shaving and driving..through a dangerous part of
suburban Indianapolis during morning rush hour. I didn’t want to take a
chance and wreck my car to video him.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve other drivers doing while they were supposed be driving? Post it here in the comments section.

When is an ''iPatch'' not an Apple gadget
Our family finally made the switch from Windows to Mac about a year
ago. I had Windows computers since 1994 starting with Win 3.1. I’m
typing this on my 17” G4 PowerBook. My last Win computer was a Dell
laptop that I liked. But I love
my Mac. It is just the best design, best display, and I’ve had no
problems with it. I also recently bought a Mac Mini which is a great
little computer. Little, but very powerful and quick.
With the Macs, plus with digital cameras, iPods, etc. there is a
lot of talk around the house about iPods, iMacs, iTunes, iPhoto, iTrip,
iBook so it came as no surprise there was some confusion about “I’s”.
We were having a conversation about school at the dinner table
when my 13 year old son mentioned that a friend has an “iPatch”. My
wife asked: “So what’s an ‘iPatch’?” thinking it was yet another Apple
gadget that I would have to have. My son said that his friend had an
eye operation and that he had to wear an eye patch for a couple of
weeks. She thought when he said “eye patch” he meant “iPatch”.
Too much computer, Internet, and Apple gadgets on our minds.

It all started with a Microsoft joke...
It
all started with the ad campaign: "Microsoft, Where do you want to go
today?". I thought "Like I have a choice?" It's more like "Microsoft,
Where do you want to go today...wherever Mr. Gates wants you to".
This was in September 1995. I was switching from Windows 3.1 to the
brand new Windows 95. At the time I had a small personal web site that
featured some funny stories I had written. I decided to create a funny
desktop wallpaper with the joke line about Microsoft. I copied the
Microsoft logo, added the funny line and created my first "joke
wallpaper". I created more almost every day and the site grew. I became
one of the "Pioneers Of Web Comedy".
The years went by, the site grew in popularity. I wrote funny stories, created more joke wallpapers. The site was bought by a crooked dot-com company
out of California. In late 1997 JokeWallpaper.com had 14 million page
views a month. I was in the middle of the dot com craze. The
JokeWallpaper.com site was still a sideline. I was working at first as
an independent Web designer...there were few back then. Then I went to
work for a couple of other dot coms that went out of business. I kept
updating the site with funny wallpapers, but the funny started running
out. In 1999 I decided to take a short break from writing humor.
That short break turned into 6 years. So it's 2005 and it is
time to make the old JokeWallpaper.com site history. I'm going to try
writing, linking, and sharing funny and interesting parts of my life. I
understand it's called "Blogging". I just hope I can make you smile.
