The Department of Intelligent Systems at the Jožef Stefan Institute is looking candidates for:
– Master studies (1 or 2 years) at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (
– PhD studies (3-5 years) at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School (

The principal goals of the Department of Intelligent Systems are to develop new methods and techniques for intelligent computer systems, with applications in the areas of the information society, computer science and informatics, and network communication systems. The main research areas are ambient intelligence, computational intelligence, agent modelling, and language and speech technologies.

The candidate should be highly motivated individual with excellent technical skills and with a willingness to perform quality research in some of the department’s research areas: Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Agent and Multiagent Systems, Ambient Intelligence, and Signal processing.
Candidates should have a BSc in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

The studies at the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School are research oriented and the focus is on the individual research work of the candidate.
The research is performed at the department usually as part of national and international projects.

Summer Internships are also possible. BSc degree is not required for the internship position, but more experienced candidates are preferred.
