Information Society 2012
The ceremonial opening of the 15th International Conference Information Society 2012 took place on Tuesday, 9 October 2012 at the Jožef Stefan Institute. The ceremony speech was held by Dr. Žiga Turk, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and by Dr. Jadran Lenarčič, Professor and Director of the Institute.
This year awards were announced by the Conference organizer the Department of Intelligent Systems. The award for the best achievement in the field of information sciences “Information Strawberry” was given to the Municipality of Ljubljana (MOL) for the Urbana uniform city card and the Bicikelj self-service bike-borrowing system and the award for the worst achievement in the field of information sciences “Information Lemon” was given to ACTA, the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. Dr. Jure Leskovec recieved the award for current achievements in the field and Dr. Franc Solina for the lifetime achievements. Conference Information Society was divided into 10 subconferences that took place from Monday 8 October until Friday 12 October at the Jožef Stefan Institute.
